The High Court can use its inherent jurisdiction under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code or Section 528 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to quash proceedings initiated under Section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, despite these proceedings being largely civil.
