Goel v. Maharashtra
Supreme Court of India2025 INSC 926Bench: Justice B.R. Gavai, Justice K. Vinod Chandran, Justice N.V. Anjaria
Alimony received after first divorce is irrelevant in determining alimony payable after second divorce. The respondent's claim for Rs. 12 crores in permanent alimony was unjustified considering the appellant-husband is unemployed with responsibility of an autistic child. The marriage was dissolved under Article 142 with transfer of encumbrance-free apartment to wife and quashing of 498A proceedings. The Court found allegations in the FIR amounted to ordinary marital squabbles blown out of proportion.
