Section 125 CrPC applies to all citizens regardless of religion. A Muslim divorced woman is entitled to maintenance under Section 125 CrPC beyond the iddat period if she is unable to maintain herself. Muslim personal law and Section 127(3)(b) CrPC do not override the right to maintenance. The Court urged Parliament to enact a Uniform Civil Code.
